... the world-wide web is 20 years old? None of my students can remember a time when there was no web.

I remember when Raj introduced us to NCSA's Mosaic... beat the hell out of usenet and gopher.
And there were like six websites in total at that point... Good times. 🙂
I was having a similar conversation with one of my students. She asked me how I researched my school projects then. I replied that I used books. Her response? "And it must have been hard to read them seeing as they were handwritten"!!!!!
At least you had books! We got all our information from hieroglyphs scratched on slate tablets...
Yeah? Well we were so poor, we couldn't afford homing pigeons... we had a budgie on elastic!
Luxury......all we had to read was tea leaves which we held in our hands because we couldn't afford a cup!!
Tea leaves? We were in a drought so we couldn't even get tea leaves. We had to stare up into the heavens and look for answers. Talk about neck pain.
I once had compuserve and thought it was the greatest thing evah!!
For some reason the date 1994 stuck in my mind... maybe that is when it started being called Worldwide Web ?
I was originally thinking around 1994 as well...
